CIRCULATION OF TWO NEW COMMEMORATIVE 2€ COINS WITH YEARMARK 2014

With this newsletter we would like to inform you that as of 24/09/2014 two new 2€ commemorative circulation coins with year mark 2014 and issuing volume of 750.000 pieces per coin, will circulate, celebrating the following anniversaries:

“400 years from the death of Domenikos Theotokopoulos (1614-2014)”

• The coins outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag
• The inner part of the coin shows a portrait of Domenikos Theotokopoulos. The background features a typical figure from his work, illustrative of his technique. The entire design is encircled in an inscription reading in Greek “ΔΟΜΗΝΙΚΟΣ ΘΕΟΤΟΚΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ 1541-1614” and “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ”.
• On the left are the year 2014 and the characteristic signature of the artist («Δομήνικος Θεοτοκόπουλος εποίει»).

“150 years from the unification of the Ionian Islands with Greece (1864-2014)”

• The coins outer ring bears the 12 stars of the European flag
• The inner part of the coin depicts a seven-pointed star inscribed in Greek with the words: “150 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΕΝΩΣΗ ΤΩΝ ΕΠΤΑΝΗΣΩΝ ΜΕ ΤΗΝ ΕΛΛΑΔΑ 1864-2014 - ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ” and the mint mark of the Greek State Mint. The spaces between the points of the star feature the symbols of the Ionian Islands. The entire design is encircled in a decorative stylised wave motif.

The design of the common sides of each coin as well as the edge lettering, are the same as on the regular 2 Euro coin issued by the Hellenic Republic.
