Clarification from the Prince's Government Concerning Commemorative 2-Euro Coins Issued to Mark the 20th Anniversary of Monaco Joining the UN
The Monegasque Authorities recall that, in 2013, the Principality had 1,249,131 commemorative 2-euro coins minted to mark the 20th anniversary of Monaco joining the UN.
10,000 PRF-quality coins were minted and sold in single-coin presentation boxes.
10,000 BU-quality coins were minted, and sold in sets that also included 8 standard-quality coins from 1 centime to 2 euros.
1,229,131 standard-quality coins were minted, and circulated at face value.
No commemorative BU-quality 2 € coins were minted to be sold individually in a presentation box. Any offers of such coins therefore do not originate from an official Monegasque issue, and the Monegasque Authorities recommend collectors to be extremely vigilant with regard to the genuine quality of coins that may be offered for sale in this respect.
