RIO 2016 OLYMPIC GAMES – The Road to Rio

In 2016 the Olympic Games will be held at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Portuguese Mint will issue in 2015 a commemorative coin, together with the Portuguese Olympic Committee.

We decided to have a first coin before 2016 to sign the event with the preparation and road to rio de Janeiro, but also because the city of Rio de Janeiro will celebrate its four hundred and fifty founding anniversary. The city was found in 1565 by the Portuguese Estácio de Sá and was closely related with the Portuguese crown.

The coin is still in under the process of creation and we can inform you that we are expecting some technical news.
