INCM hat geschrieben: EUROPEAN SILVER PROGRAM – 70 YEARS OF PEACE IN EUROPE


In 2012 the peace Nobel prize has been awarded to the European Union.

At the time Mr Thorbjorn Jagland, head of the Nobel committee, said and I quote:

“Besides the economic difficulties and considerable social unrest, the committee wishes to focus on what it sees as the European union most important result: the successful struggle for peace and reconciliation and for democracy and human rights”.

Besides some regional conflicts during this period of seventy years, Europe can be proud of its efforts to reach peace and harmony between all nations, so this theme for the program makes all the sense.

The coin depicts one dove with the olive branch on its beak, symbolizing peace flying over Europe.
