Production of Norwegian coins to continue at Det Norske Myntverket AS (Mint of Norway)
The agreement between Norges Bank and Det Norske Myntverket (Mint of Norway) on coin production expires at end-2009. Contracts for the purchase of coins as from 2010 are subject to the Public Procurement Act, and Norges Bank has therefore issued a call for tender in accordance with the Act.



The call for tender was announced internationally in the usual way and a total of 6 mints submitted tenders. Assessment of tenders was based on the criteria of price and functionality, which were given weightings of 80% and 20% respectively. Based on these criteria, the tender from Det Norske Myntverket AS was assessed to be the best tender. Norges Bank therefore intends to sign a framework agreement with Det Norske Myntverket AS on the delivery of coins for four years as from 2010.
