"DUBROVNIK KARAKA"

In cooperation with the Croatian Monetary Institute, the Croatian National Bank launched a series of commemorative coins "OLD CROATIAN SHIPS", in order to honour and popularise the centuries-old Croatian shipbuilding tradition and emphasise the maritime orientation of the Republic of Croatia.
The first in the series of commemorative silver coins is dedicated to the Dubrovnik karaka, a sailing ship built in Dubrovnik in the 15th century, which ranked as one of the largest cargo ships of the time.
The commemorative silver coin was minted in proof condition and was released for sale on 25 February 2008.
