The coins honor former Presidents William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, James K. Polk and Zachary Taylor.
Beginning with the William Henry Harrison Presidential $1 Coin next year, “In God We Trust” will appear on the obverse of all Presidential $1 Coins. As a result, the edge lettering of the 2009 Presidential $1 Coins will be slightly different from that of 2007 and 2008. Where currently there are single dots (delimiters) between the inscriptions, in 2009 there will be three stars between “E Pluribus Unum” and the mint mark and 10 stars between the year of minting and “E Pluribus Unum.”
The Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 directed the United States Mint to inscribe the year of minting or issuance, and the national mottos “E Pluribus Unum” and “In God We Trust” on the edge of the Presidential $1 Coin. In 2008, Congress passed the Consolidated Appropriations Act, which included a provision directing the Secretary of the Treasury to move the inscription “In God We Trust” from the edge of the Presidential $1 Coin to the obverse (heads side) or reverse (tails side) of the coin.
Designs for the 2009 Presidential $1 Coins are based on official White House portraits, intaglio prints and medal designs. The first Presidential $1 Coin of 2009, struck in honor of our ninth President, William Henry Harrison, bears an image sculpted and designed by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Joseph Menna. The second Presidential $1 Coin of 2009, honoring John Tyler, our Nation’s 10th President, bears an image designed and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Phebe Hemphill. The third coin, honoring the 11th President, James K. Polk, features an obverse portrait designed by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Susan Gamble and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Charles Vickers. The fourth coin, honoring Zachary Taylor, our 12th President, features an obverse portrait by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart. The reverse design on all Presidential $1 Coins features a rendition of the Statue of Liberty, designed and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart.
Launched in 2007, the Presidential $1 Coin Program features a series of designs honoring four Presidents annually, with a new coin issued approximately every three months. Since the inception of the multi-year program, the United States Mint has minted more than 1.4 billion new $1 coins.

Hallo, möchte noch etwas zum Ablauf / zur Bestellung der Coins beitragen: Ich hatte am 17.02. den "2009 Pres. $1 Coin Proof Set 4 Cn" bei der United States Mint geordert. Bereits am 26.02. traf die Sendung wohlbehalten ein. An Kosten fielen an: 14,95 $ (11,70 €) für die Coins und Porto (shipping and handling) in Höhe von 17,90 $ (13,10 €). Für die mitbestellte Collectors -BOX zahlte ich 15, 90 $ (12,95 + 2,95 $). Auch in den beiden vorhergehenden Jahren (Beginn de Serie in 2007) lief alles "ohne Probleme".

Zollgebühren fallen bei Münzen generell nicht an, sondern höchstens Einfuhrumsatzsteuer.
Meine Erfahrung ist, daß der Zoll nur ab und zu mal Sendungen an Privatpersonen überprüft (ich hatte schon häufig welche wo ich eigentlich was bezahlen hätte müßte aber ... ). Aber ich bin auch schon zum Zollamt zitiert worden.
Ansonsten gibt es immer noch Freigrenzen: bis €22 Warenwert werden generell keine Gebühren erhoben. Und dann werden Gebühren erst erhoben wenn sie mindestens €5,00 betragen. Das gibt bei 7% EUSt immerhin eine Freugrenze von ca. €71 und bei 19% EUSt sind es dann ca. €26.

Hallo, bingo, das ist die perfekte Antwort, der ich nichts mehr - für Michael - hinzufügen kann. Nur soviel aus meiner Erfahrung: Ich habe noch nie Zollgebühren bezahlt, obwohl ich nicht wenige Münzen im Ausland, z:B. Kanada, USA, Neuseeland, Australien, Schweden, gesamte EG Länder, ordere.

President Harrison was born in 1773. During a distinguished Army career, he gained national fame and the nickname "Old Tippecanoe." In 1840, the Whig Party tapped Harrison to run for President. John Tyler was the vice presidential candidate that year. "Tippecanoe and Tyler Too" became the first, and still one of the most memorable, presidential campaign slogans. At age 68, Harrison became the oldest person to serve in the office until the 20th century. He died from pneumonia just one month after his inauguration, the first president to die while in office.

Born in 1795 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, James K. Polk was the eleventh President of the United States (1845 - 1849).
In 1806, the Polk family moved from North Carolina to the Duck River area (now Maury County) in middle Tennessee. Polk, regarded as a promising student, was admitted into the University of North Carolina in 1816 as a second-semester sophomore, and graduated with honors in 1818. At age 27, Polk won a seat in the Tennessee Legislature, and at age 29 he was elected to the U.S. Congress. His Congressional career lasted fourteen years and included two terms as Speaker of the House. Challenging Henry Clay in the 1844 Presidential election, Polk promised to actively encourage America's westward expansion (Manifest Destiny)he favored Texas statehood and the acquisition of the Oregon Territory. Tense negotiations with Great Britain concluded with American annexation of the Oregon Territory south of the 49th Parallel. Following a controversial two-year war, Mexico ceded New Mexico and California to the United States. During Polk's term of office, the United States acquired over 800,000 square miles of western territory and extended its boundary to the Pacific Ocean.
Interestingly:
- Polk is the only Speaker of the House of Representatives to become President of the United States
- Up to that time, Polk was the youngest President
- Polk oversaw the opening of the U.S. Naval Academy and the Smithsonian, the groundbreaking for the Washington Monument, and the issuance of the first postage stamps in the United States
- Polk was the first President of the United States to be photographed frequently while in office
- True to his campaign promise, Polk was the first President to retire after one term without seeking re-election
- Three months after leaving office, Polk died of cholera
