Commemorative coins
Elections as the Foundation of Democracy
In 2024, both the presidential election and elections to the European Parliament will be held in Finland. The general elections were held in 2023. The municipal elections were arranged in 2021 and the first regional elections in 2022. The theme of the commemorative coin aims to highlight the importance of free elections as a foundation of modern democracy.

Gesellius, Lindgren, Saarinen – Finnish architecture
The theme of the commemorative coin aims to highlight the history and unique qualities of Finnish architecture. The commemorative coin is also being released in recognition of architects Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen, and their mutually founded architectural office, Gesellius, Lindgren, Saarinen. Over the course of their careers, the architects designed several buildings, representing some of the most highly valued examples of Finnish construction history.

100 Years of Kirsi Kunnas – Children’s Literature in Finland
The theme of the commemorative coin aims to highlight Finnish children’s literature and its traditions. The theme of the commemorative coin also seeks to recognise the important role of children’s literature in developing the literacy of children. The theme is timely because, in 2024, a hundred years will have passed since the birth of Kirsi Kunnas. Kunnas is recognized as the pioneer of Finnish children’s literature.

Die Royal Dutch Mint gewann den Wettbewerb zur Herstellung von Euro-Münzen und Gedenkmünzen

Das Finanzministerium hat die Herstellung finnischer Euro-Münzen und Sammlermünzen sowie den Verkauf von Sammlermünzen ausgeschrieben. Der Wettbewerb wurde von der Royal Dutch Mint (De Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt N.V.) gewonnen.

Der Wettbewerb erstreckte sich über den Zeitraum vom 1. Januar 2025 bis 31. Dezember 2027. Der Wettbewerb umfasst auch Vertragsoptionen für die Jahre 2026–2029.

Das Finanzministerium hat die Ausschreibung als Vergabe über den EU-Schwellenwerten als offenes Verfahren im Zeitraum vom 14. Juni 2024 bis 9. August 2024 durchgeführt.

The Board of Directors of Mint of Finland Ltd. has made a decision on the voluntary termination of the company’s business. The decision is based on global payment changes and weakened business conditions.

Responsible operation has been and still is important to the company. Mint of Finland is now focusing on completing the current customer and supplier commitments in accordance with the agreements, estimated by spring 2025, before closing down operations. The company will not submit any new offers or accept new orders.

The company has held change negotiations concerning all staff during the summer of 2024. As a result of the change negotiations, all employees will be dismissed at the end of operations. Please get in touch with your contact person if you have any questions.
