Estland bekommt den Euro
Estland kann zum kommenden Jahreswechsel das 17. Mitglied der Eurozone werden. Das baltische Land habe Inflation und Schulden im Griff und erfülle alle Beitrittskriterien, teilte die EU-Kommission mit. "Estland hat einen hohen Grad an dauerhafter wirtschaftlicher Konvergenz erreicht und ist für die Einführung des Euro am 1. Januar 2011 bereit", sagte EU-Währungskommissar Olli Rehn.

Mir ist es nicht unbegreiflich. Ich lebe da.

Ich lebe zwar nicht in Estland, finde es aber auch gut. Estland erfüllt alle Kriterien! Warum soll dann das Land den Euro nicht einführen sollen? Eine Gefahr für den Euro kommt ja nicht von dort. Die Gefahr kommt von den "alten" Ländern. Ich zolle dem Land meinen Respekt, trotz Eurokrise an der Einführung festzuhalten! lurelee

Estonia's National Changeover Plan
On 1 September 2005, the Government of the Republic approved the first version of the national changeover plan, which formed the basis for making preparations for the adoption of the euro. The changeover plan was prepared in cooperation of Ministry of Finance, Eesti Pank, and several other state authorities. In addition, credit institutions, the Consumer Protection Board, and organisations representing the business community were consulted.

The current version of the Estonian National Changeover Plan was completed in April 2010.

Estland bekommt den Euro

Der baltische Staat Estland soll zum kommenden Jahreswechsel den Euro bekommen. Dafür sprachen sich die Finanzminister der Eurozone am Montag in Luxemburg aus. "Estland wird 17. Mitglied der Eurozone", sagte Luxemburgs Premier Jean-Claude Juncker. Die förmliche Entscheidung soll Dienstag getroffen werden.

EU-Gipfel: Estland kann den Euro einführen

Brüssel (dpa) - Der EU-Gipfel gibt grünes Licht für den Beitritt Estlands zur Eurozone. Das baltische Land könne zum kommenden Jahreswechsel seine Krone gegen den Euro tauschen, beschlossen die EU-Staats-und Regierungschefs laut Diplomaten am Donnerstag in Brüssel.

Estland mit nur 1,3 Millionen Einwohnern wird die Nummer 17 im Euro-Club sein. Die EU-Finanzminister werden den Umtauschkurs Mitte Juli festlegen. Estland gilt in der Haushaltspolitik als Musterschüler und hat Inflation und Schulden im Griff.

Estonia will adopt the euro on 1 January 2011
The Council has today¹ decided to allow Estonia to adopt the euro as its currency with effect from 1 January 2011. This decision will extend the euro area to a 17th Member State, and gives Estonia almost six months to prepare for the changeover. The Council also adopted Regulations setting a permanent conversion rate for the Estonian kroon against the euro, and adapting certain technical provisions on the euro. Euro notes and coins will be issued in Estonia at the same time as adoption of the euro. This conversion rate is set at 15,6466 Estonian kroonid to one euro, which corresponds to the current central rate of the kroon in the EU's exchange rate mechanism (ERM II).
Sixteen of the 27 Member States of the EU currently have the euro as their currency.
Euro banknotes and coins were introduced:
– on 1 January 2002 in Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Austria and Finland;
– on 1 January 2007 in Slovenia;
– on 1 January 2008 in Cyprus and Malta; and
– on 1 January 2009 in Slovakia.

Estonia is prepared for living in the euro area

According to Andres Lipstok, Governor of Eesti Pank, Estonia is prepared for living in the monetary union, as Estonia has, like the euro area, resorted to other measures of economic adjustment than the changing the exchange rate.

"The Estonian kroon has been a cornerstone of our economy and has been supporting the stability of the Estonian monetary system for over 18 years. Conservative fiscal policy and open-economy driven decisions have further contributed to the currency board arrangement. Estonia has well preserved the Estonian kroon, and also vice versa," said Mr Lipstok.

"Estonia has adjusted to changes through a conservative fiscal policy, open economy and flexible labour and product markets. There has been no need to make adjustments by changing the exchange rate. In that sense, euro area membership will not entail any changes for us," noted the Governor.

"Accession to the euro area has opened up new prospects for development for Estonia. The euro as such does not make us smarter or raise our productivity overnight. However, joining the euro area will definitely increase confidence in Estonia's economy. It is clear to everybody that being part of the euro area means following certain rules. By becoming a member of the euro area, we assume the obligation to follow the common fiscal rules, which is only beneficial for Estonia in the long run," said Mr Lipstok.

The Governor added that the enlargement of the euro area and functioning of the European monetary union is of utmost importance, with Estonia's accession making a small additional contribution to that.

On Tuesday, EU finance ministers adopted the final decision on Estonia's accession to the euro area on 1 January 2011. The exchange rate was fixed at 1 EUR = 15.6466 EEK by the unanimous vote of the euro area finance ministers and Estonia's finance minister.

Bei der Vielfalt der estnischen Münzmotive fällt die Wahl der schönsten estnischen Münze irgenwie sehr schwer! :crazy:

Mir gefallen die 1 und 2 Euro-Münzen am besten, denn da sieht man wenigsten die Gebirge in Estland :hihi: :crazy:.
