Numismatic issue - silver coin commemorating 100 years since the birth of actor Ştefan Ciobotăraşu

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 concerning The Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 16 August 2010, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation, for numismatic purposes, a silver coin commemorating 100 years since the birth of actor Ştefan Ciobotăraşu.

The silver coin has the following characteristics:

* face value: leu 10
* fineness: 999‰
* shape: round
* diameter: 37 mm
* weight: 31.103 g
* quality: proof
* edge: milled
* coinage: 1,000

Obverse: a design suggesting the world of theatre and film; on the right, Romania’s coat-of-arms; from top to bottom, the face value of the coin – “10 LEI”, the inscription “ROMANIA” and the year of issue “2010”.

Reverse: the portrait of actor Ştefan Ciobotăraşu performing in “Columna”, in a movie frame; on the outer ring, on the left, the inscription “STEFAN CIOBOTARASU” in an arc; below, the years “1910” and “1970”, i.e. his birth and death years.

The selling price for the collector coin commemorating 100 years since the birth of actor Ştefan Ciobotăraşu is leu 205, excluding VAT.

Each coin is housed in a transparent plastic capsule and is accompanied by a leaflet featuring an overview of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French. The leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of both the Governor and the Head Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The silver coins commemorating 100 years since the birth of actor Ştefan Ciobotăraşu are legal tender on the territory of Romania.
