Numismatic issue - silver coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the creation of Astra Society in Sibiu

Pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 312/2004 on the Statute of the National Bank of Romania, on 14 November 2011, the National Bank of Romania will put into circulation a collector silver coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the creation of Astra Society in Sibiu.

The silver coin has the following characteristics:

face value: lei 10
metal: silver
fineness: 999‰
shape: round
diameter: 37 mm
weight: 31.103 g
quality: proof
edge: milled.

Obverse: to the outside, the inscription “150 DE ANI DE LA INFIINTAREA SOCIETATII ASTRA DIN SIBIU” in an arc; to the inside, the portrait and the name of Andrei Şaguna, the image of the ASTRA Palace in Sibiu, the inscription “ROMANIA”, the face value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2011”.

Reverse: to the outside, the circular inscription “ASOCIATIUNEA TRANSILVANA PENTRU LITERATURA ROMANA SI CULTURA POPORULUI ROMAN” and the establishment year “1861”; to the inside, the symbol of ASTRA, the portraits of the authors of its first statute and the inscriptions “PRIMUL STATUT AL ASTREI” and “T.Cipariu-G.Baritiu-I.Puscariu”.

The silver coins are housed in transparent plastic capsules and are accompanied by leaflets featuring a brief presentation of the numismatic issue in Romanian, English and French.

Each leaflet comes with a certificate of authenticity bearing the signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.

The mintage of this numismatic issue is 500.

The selling price of the silver coin, including the leaflet, is lei 360.00 excluding VAT.

The silver coins dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the creation of Astra Society in Sibiu are legal tender on the territory of Romania.

The collector silver coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
