The History of the Russian Aviation

On April 1, 2010 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues commemorative coins of precious metals:

- two silver proof coins in denomination of 1 Ruble of the series “The History of the Russian Aviation”;

The silver proof coins in denomination of 1 Ruble of the series “The History of the Russian Aviation” (fine metal content 7.78g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue numbers 5109-0094 and 5109-0095, diameter 25.0 mm, mintage 5000 pcs of each kind) has the rim, raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference.

The obverse: the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin "ОДИН РУБЛÜ" (ONE RUBLE) and the year of issue "2010", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the trade mark of the Saint-Petersburg Mint and the fine precious metal content.

- of the first coin - on the field, performed in color, the relief image of the aircraft “Russian knight” and the two inscriptions along the circumference: at the top – “ИСТОРИЯ РУССКОЙ АВИАЦИИ” (THE HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN AVIATION) and at the bottom – “РУССКИЙ ВИТЯЗЬ” (RUSSIAN KNIGHT) in two lines.

- of the second coin - on the field, performed in color, the relief image of the airliner “Sukhoi Super Jet 100” and the two inscriptions along the circumference: at the top – “ИСТОРИЯ РУССКОЙ АВИАЦИИ” (THE HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN AVIATION) and at the bottom – “СУХОЙ СУПЕРДЖЕТ- 100” (SUKHOI SUPER JET 100).

- of the second coin depicts the relief image of the “U-2” aircraft and its trace in the sky, performed in colour. The inscriptions are: at the bottom along the circumference - “ИСТОРИЯ РУССКОЙ АВИАЦИИ” (THE HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN AVIATION) and at the top - “У-2” (U-2).

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
