Exhibition of Maltese coins at the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg
As part of the celebrations marking its 10th anniversary, the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg is currently displaying a selection of Maltese coins from the Currency Museum of the Central Bank of Malta. The coins on display are representative of the entire spectrum of the coinage used in Malta from the Punic period to the present day.
The exhibition was inaugurated on 8 December by the Governor of the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg, Dr Yves Mersch, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Mr Michael C. Bonello, who gave an introductory speech on the historical background of the coins exhibited.
The Central Bank of Malta enjoys an excellent working relationship with the Banque Centrale du Luxembourg, which has been a member of the Eurosystem since its inception. Recently the two banks signed a cooperation agreement together with three other Eurosystem national central banks to issue a joint tender for the purchase of euro banknotes. This initiative has enabled the Central Bank of Malta to gain useful technical expertise and to achieve financial savings.

En collaboration avec la Banque centrale de Malte la Banque centrale du Luxembourg organisera à partir du 9 janvier 2009 une Exposition numismatique intitulée
« Une promenade à travers l’histoire de la monnaie maltaise ».

L’exposition sera ouverte au public du 9 décembre 2008 au 9 janvier 2009 du lundi au vendredi de 10h30 à 16h00 à l’espace numismatique de la Banque centrale du Luxembourg, Bâtiment Monterey 43, avenue Monterey, L- 2163 Luxembourg.
