3 and 100 Roubles "225th Anniversary ...First Russian Insurance Institution"

On December 13, 2011 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues two silver commemorative coins in denomination of 3 and 100 Roubles dedicated to the 225th Anniversary of the Foundation of the First Russian Insurance Institution.

The silver proof coin in denomination of 3 Roubles (fine metal content 31.1g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue number 5111-0224, diameter 39.0 mm, mintage 3000 pcs) and the silver proof-like coin in denomination of 100 Roubles (fine metal content 1000g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue number 5117-0049, diameter 100.0 mm, mintage 250 pcs) have the rim raised on both sides of the coins along the circumference.

The obverse side of the coins bears the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denominations of the coins "ТРИ РУБЛЯ" (THREE ROUBLES) and "СТО РУБЛЕЙ" (ONE HUNDRED ROUBLES) and the year of issue "2011", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the Moscow mint trade mark and the fine precious metal content.

The reverse side:

- of the coin in denomination of 3 Roubles bears relief images of a goose feather, of five insurance boards as well as a monogram of Catherine the Great. The inscription along the rim says "225-ЛЕТИЕ СО ДНЯ ОСНОВАНИЯ ПЕРВОГО РОССИЙСКОГО СТРАХОВОГО УЧРЕЖЕНИЯ" (The 225th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE FIRST RUSSIAN INSURANCE INSTITUTION).

- of the coin in denomination of 100 Roubles bears relief images of a monument to Catherine the Great in Saint Petersburg, a fragment of a Proclamation of the insurance expedition and a goose feather. The inscription along the rim says "225-ЛЕТИЕ СО ДНЯ ОСНОВАНИЯ ПЕРВОГО РОССИЙСКОГО СТРАХОВОГО УЧРЕЖЕНИЯ" (The 225th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE FIRST RUSSIAN INSURANCE INSTITUTION). There are - a date "ДЕКАБРЯ 23 1786" (December 23, 1786) inscripted in two lines at the top and a facsimile signature of Catherine the Great at the bottom of the coin.

The edge of the coins is corrugated.

The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
