ISSUE OF COLLECTOR COIN IN HONOUR OF GODDESS APHRODITE

The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) announces the issue of a silver collector coin with a nominal value of €5 in proof condition and issue year 2015.

A. DESCRIPTION OF ISSUE
This coin is issued in honour of goddess Aphrodite of Cyprus. It depicts a marble statue of the goddess naked without hands up to the shoulders and without legs below the knees. The statue belongs to the Hellenistic period, 1st century B.C. and was found at Soloi. It can be visited at the Cyprus Museum in Nicosia and is considered as a point of reference for the cult of Aphrodite in Cyprus. The designer is Mr George Stamatopoulos and the coin was minted by the Greek Mint.

The issue is limited to 4.000 coins. The selling price of each coin, including VAT, has been set at €40.

Obverse: The emblem of the Central Bank of Cyprus, the words «ΚΥΠΡΟΣ», «CYPRUS» and «KIBRIS», the year «2015» and circularly sea waves.

Reverse: A composition depicting the marble statue of goddess Aphrodite with the Cyprus map in the background and circularly sea waves. On the upper part from left to right semi circular inscription of the name of the goddess "ΑΦΡΟΔΙΤΗ - APHRODITE". The coin’s nominal value of €5 is also depicted.

Weight: 28,28 grammes

Schön ist sie ja diese Münze. Aber mit der Auflage wird sie wohl lange im shop zu bestellen sein. So ähnlich wie die MÜnze von 2013.
