The subscription coin for 2008 is a reproduction of the $1 1921 Kookaburra Penny, and highlights the Royal Australian Mint's meticulous attention to detail.

Both sides of the 2008 coin feature the original 1921 square design, with the obverse showing King George V and the reverse showing the Kookaburra. Both images are encircled by intricate detailed lines that give an almost animated swirling appearance and framed with fresh and innovated styling and text.
