Another remarkable story has reached us this week!

A few days ago, a Belgian coin collector received a coin roll of the new French 2 euro coin dedicated to the 75th anniversary of UNICEF. When looking at the coins one by one, he noticed that one coin looked different from the other. In the inscription at the top of the inner circle, he noted that the name 'UNCIEF' was written not with one, but with two C's. In other words, there are two different versions of this coin in circulation!

We have of course started investigating this incident. The production team (AFD) of the MdP informed us that an inscription error has indeed occurred on one of the coin dies. It is estimated that about 1.4 thousand double-C coins were struck. This variant is therefore very rare!
